  • Unrefined vs. Refined: Some coconut oil comes straight from fresh coconuts without any extra steps. This is called “unrefined” or “virgin.” Of course, that’s pure or unrefined coconut oil. It keeps a lot of the coconut’s good stuff inside. There’s also refined coconut oil, which might lose some of its health benefits during the process. Most of the time, skin from fresh coconuts is better.
  • Getting certified as organic: If coconut oil has the word “organic” on the label, it means that it wasn’t made with any harmful chemicals or fertilisers. That’s better because it’s better for our skin.
  • Cold-pressed: Some coconut oil is made without using any heat. That’s known as cold-pressed coconut oil. All the good things inside stay inside when it’s cool. This is the one we want if we want to keep all the good coconut stuff!
  • How it feels and how thick it is: coconut oil can work like magic! It’s as smooth as water sometimes and as hard as a rock other times. Perhaps, if it’s warm enough. It’s time to plan how we’ll use it. When we touch it, the hard one melts. The soft one is easy to put on.
